Calhoun VINELink Became IVSS
Texas replaced county-level VINE and VINELink with IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. The Texas Attorney General said existing registrations migrated without a new registration. A first portal login prompts a password update, and phone or text notices may arrive through a different provider. Current searches should start in IVSS-Counties rather than the retired VINELink workflow.
The system is free and can issue notices about booking, release, transfer to TDCJ, escape, death, and court events. Search does not require an account. Registration adds text, call, or email delivery, contact preferences, quiet periods, pauses, and notification history. Help is available around the clock at 866-268-8959.
The Attorney General's victim-notification transition page explains the statewide change. This matters in Calhoun because links or saved instructions that still say VINELink may describe the former system.
The captured state notice confirms the replacement and migration, so current registration steps should not be mixed with the legacy PIN process.
Search Calhoun County IVSS Records
Search one person at a time. A full name can work, but an agency identifier greatly reduces the chance of choosing the wrong record. The IVSS-Counties interface accepts a full or partial name, DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or permanent booking number. Its prompt suggests the first three letters of the first and last names separated by a space. CAPTCHA must be completed.
- Open IVSS-Counties and enter the strongest identifier available. If using a name, follow the portal's partial-name format.
- Complete CAPTCHA and review the returned records. Compare the name, identification number, and custody location before selecting one.
- Open the matching detail. Do not assume that two people with similar names share the same case.
- Check the status and event history, then register if future notice is needed.
- Confirm a release event in the official Calhoun released booking or by requesting the agency record.
A person who has left custody may no longer appear. The portal says a registration can remain active after a record stops displaying and can resume notices if the person returns to custody. Thus, no result does not prove that no Calhoun booking or release occurred.
Calhoun Release Alert Fields
IVSS fields serve notification and identity matching. They should be read within the system that supplied them. A county status concerns the county feed. A state status concerns TDCJ custody or supervision. Neither one automatically resolves the Calhoun court case.

Calhoun's own released application is more detailed for a completed county-jail event. It can state release date and time, how released, release reason, confining agency, charges, and docket number. Use those fields to check what an IVSS alert reported.
Register Calhoun Release Notifications
Registration begins only after the correct person has been selected. Current IVSS-Counties guidance supports account-based contact settings. It does not document the former four-digit phone PIN, so a PIN must not be invented for the new service.
- Search for the person and open the matching IVSS-Counties record.
- Choose the notification or registration action shown by the portal.
- Select text, telephone, email, or an available combination and enter the contact details carefully.
- Set delivery preferences, quiet periods, or pauses as needed, then retain the account confirmation.
- Review the notification history after an expected event and call 866-268-8959 if registration help is needed.
Event feeds operate around the clock, but the source record can still lag. Do not rely on a notice as a safety guarantee. For a planned pickup or a time-sensitive court matter, confirm with the Calhoun Adult Detention Center or the agency that owns the custody record.
Legacy VINELink PIN Instructions
Before the statewide change, Texas VINE used 877-TX4-VINE and VINELink. The legacy brochure told a caller to register a phone or email destination and choose a four-digit PIN. When an automated call arrived, the recipient entered the PIN followed by the pound sign to confirm receipt and stop repeat calls.
Unanswered legacy calls could repeat for up to 48 hours. A forgotten PIN could be reset through a hotline operator. Those directions explain older Calhoun VINELink references, but they are dated. They do not describe IVSS-Counties account management after September 1, 2025. Current users should follow the live portal and current Attorney General notice.
Note: The legacy PIN confirms receipt of an old VINE phone call; it does not confirm the underlying release event.
Calhoun County and TDCJ Alerts
County and state custody use distinct notification layers. IVSS-Counties is the path for connected county custody and court events. The separate TDCJ IVSS searches people in TDCJ custody or on parole or mandatory supervision. It accepts a name, SID, or current TDCJ number, and its search help permits an asterisk for partial matching.
This split matters after transfer. Leaving the Calhoun Adult Detention Center for TDCJ is not release into the community. The county event closes or changes the local custody episode, while TDCJ becomes the new source. Texas designed notification continuity to help when a defendant transfers to state custody, but an official record should still confirm each event.

That screen belongs to the state system, so it should not be treated as another view of the Calhoun County jail roster.
Confirm Calhoun County Releases
IVSS can alert, but affirmative confirmation comes from the originating agency. For a county-jail release, check Calhoun's Released mode and open the detail record. For a state prisoner, the public TDCJ inmate search covers current prisoners. It may not retain a normal public result after parole or discharge. Use TDCJ IVSS, Parole Division or Board information, and a TDCJ record to establish what happened. A projected date is a forecast, not a release notice.
Federal custody is outside both Texas IVSS systems. Search the BOP Inmate Locator for a sentenced federal inmate released after 1982, or use the federal docket and custodian for a pretrial release. ICE also maintains its own locator. A county release followed by federal or immigration custody is not a street release.
When online sources conflict, request the specific booking/release sheet, custody history, transfer record, parole release record, or discharge record. Notification systems can guide the timing of that request, but they cannot certify the answer.
Note: A Calhoun IVSS no-result remains inconclusive because people no longer in custody may stop appearing in the search.
